The Pas / Opaskwayak Cree Nation
Your imagiNorthern (art and food) Champion for The Pas Region is me, Cheryl Antonio, and I can’t say enough what an honour it has been to fulfill this role over the past few years! As a child, I began my love for the arts, often writing stories and illustrating the pages.
I was very fortunate that my mother took me to all the Arts Council shows and performances while I was growing up. Music became very important to me, and playing the alto-sax was something I loved to do. Now, I am learning to play the fiddle and loving it!! Throughout my life, I have enjoyed crafting, sketching, acrylic painting, event planning, beading, sewing, acting, singing, storytelling, filmmaking and photography. I have had many stories, films, and photos published in magazines, tv, and online. I’ve done all kinds of workshops and love sharing with others how to create music, art, and food!! Heck, I even love grant writing!
I am passionate about community and have been blessed with living in the Tri-Area and even more blessed to live in the north. Through this role, I have met so many talented and amazing artisans, crafters, and foodies. Food!! Oh my!! I am obsessed with food!! I love making it, sharing it, photographing it, and even selling it!! The local, home-based food industry is growing again, and I couldn’t be more excited!! Foodies and artisans often share the same challenges, so imagiNorthern is here to help!! It’s an amazing time to be alive and an amazing time to do good work!! I’m here to help and here to get you what you need to succeed!!
