Handmade work from northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan — a storefront on Flin Flon’s Main Street and a marketplace that ships across North America and Europe.
The project
A market built for northern makers
Uptown Emporium is a physical store in Flin Flon and a non-profit e-commerce platform. It was established in November 2020 and is owned and operated by the Flin Flon Arts Council.
The purpose is straightforward: expand economic opportunities for artists in northern Manitoba by marketing and selling hand-crafted products made in the north — supporting small businesses and, with them, the region’s tourism and cultural sector.
What began with 11 vendors now carries work from more than 100 artisans, with Northern Champions connecting makers from Flin Flon to The Pas, Creighton, Cranberry Portage, and communities across the north.

The storefront
Main Street, Flin Flon
The Uptown Emporium Centre grew from a 475 square foot proof-of-concept into a 2,100 square foot hub — a place to warehouse, meet, and sell work, and a larger room for people to see what northern makers are producing.
Behind the shop is a team that photographs, ships, prices, and markets so artists can stay in their studios. Inventory, customer service, small-business training, and shipping across Canada, the US, and Europe are part of the same project.
imagiNorthern grew out of this work: connecting Regional Champions, artists, and communities so northern creative economies can keep building.
